If you’re looking for a place that genuinely feels like the start of the holiday season, Festive Village at Burnaby Village Museum has that quiet, nostalgic charm that’s hard to find anywhere else. The moment you step onto the open-air grounds, you’re surrounded by soft lights, traditional décor, and that cozy winter feeling that usually belongs to old holiday movies.

Admission is free. Carousel rides are $2.71.

What You’ll Experience

Holiday lights and classic décor
The museum’s 10 acres transform into a small, glowing village. Warm light spills from heritage buildings, garlands line the walkways, and the trees are wrapped in soft, comforting strands of light. It’s less about bright spectacle and more about atmosphere, the kind you stroll through slowly, noticing details as you go.

This year’s theme: Sports & Games
Throughout the grounds you’ll find exhibits and interactive moments built around sports and games. It’s casual, hands-on, and easy for families to enjoy together. Most people end up spending more time here than expected.

Seasonal entertainment
Carol singers drift through the village, roving performers appear without warning, and Father Christmas makes regular visits. There’s also a scavenger hunt that tends to turn into a friendly competition among families.

Food and warm treats
If the air feels a little crisp, drop into Mai’s Café for a warm bite, or follow the scent of caramel to Cravings Kettle Corn for something sweet.

Good to Know

Entry limits
If the grounds become too full, staff may briefly limit entry for safety reasons. Early visits and weekdays are usually quieter. Real-time updates will be available online.

Festive Village Parking
Parking in the area is limited. Carpooling or taking transit is strongly recommended. Please be mindful of nearby residents and parking staff.
