Harvest Days 2026 Runs Weekends From September 26 to October 18, With Bluegrass, Food Trucks, and a Transformed Maze Area, All Included With Regular Garden Admission

Autumn arrives at VanDusen Botanical Garden the way it always has: with a maze, a harvest garden, live music drifting across the lawn, and families making a day of it. Everything is included with regular Garden admission.

With the PNE Fair wrapped up for another year, this is the outing that carries the season forward, at a gentler pace.

A maze, a harvest garden, and a full day outdoors

The Learning Garden and hedge maze sit at the heart of the event, dressed for the season and surrounded by activities for every age. Lawn games like cornhole and Jenga are set up nearby, face painters work through the afternoon, and food trucks handle lunch.

Live music runs all day across from the hedge maze, with bluegrass and family folk sessions. It is the sort of unhurried afternoon that used to be the standard fall outing, and it still holds up.

Activity Daily times
Live music 11:30am to 1:30pm, then 2pm to 4pm
Face painting 10:30am to 1pm, then 1:30pm to 4pm

The Discovery Tent

The Discovery Tent hosts a rotating lineup of local experts, organizations, and community groups running nature-based activities and demonstrations. Programming changes through the event period and has included honey tasting and gardening tips, so two visits three weeks apart will not look the same.

Sculpture Stroll and the best of the fall colour

Local artist Nickie Lewis has work on display along the Sculpture Stroll, built entirely from natural, organic, and fully biodegradable materials. Past the event area, the rest of the Garden is doing what it does best in October. Sugar maples, ginkgo trees, and bald cypress carry the colour, and the Autumn Stroll is worth the extra loop before heading home.

Photographers will find plenty here. Tripods are permitted on grassy areas only, not in garden beds or on pathways.

  • Event dates are September 26 and 27, October 3 and 4, October 10, 11, and 12 (Thanksgiving Monday), and October 17 and 18.

Getting there

Parking is free in the lot off West 37th Avenue, though spaces are limited and fill quickly on event weekends. Free street parking is available nearby where signs permit. Transit is the easier option: the Garden sits on the #17 Oak bus route and is about a 15 minute walk from Oakridge Canada Line station.

Main Garden paths are paved and wheelchair accessible, portable toilets on site are accessible, and the accessible drop-off area is located on the C-Drive off Oak Street. Wheelchairs are not available to borrow.
