Terry Fox Run 2026 Brings a Free 3K Loop Around Lost Lagoon and a 10K Along the Seawall to Ceperley Park, With Strollers, Wheelchairs, and Leashed Dogs All Welcome
Every September since 1981, communities across the country have set aside one Sunday for the same quiet ritual. In Vancouver it happens at Ceperley Park, the grassy stretch beside Second Beach in Stanley Park, where thousands gather to walk, run, or roll a few kilometres for cancer research.
There is no entry fee, no finish line clock, and no minimum pledge. Nobody wins.

Two routes, one pace: whatever suits
The 3K starts at Ceperley Park, follows the paths around Lost Lagoon, and comes back to the Ceperley fields. It is the route most families and walkers take, and a stroller handles all of it.
The 10K leaves from the same spot, cuts through the interior trails of Ceperley Meadow, then runs the full seawall perimeter before finishing back at the celebration area. Both are non-competitive. Participants cross the line at their own pace, and light refreshments are usually laid on at the end.
Free to enter, funded by pledges
Participants pay nothing to take part and are not held to a minimum donation. The money comes from pledges gathered beforehand and donations made on the day. Registration, team pages, and pledge collection all run through the official Terry Fox Run portal, and registering ahead of time saves standing in the sign-in line on Sunday morning.
Everybody moves
The routes are built to be inclusive. Children, strollers, wheelchairs, bicycles, rollerblades, and dogs on a short leash are all welcome on the course. That is the whole point of the thing, and it is a large part of why the crowd at Ceperley Park skews so heavily toward families.
- Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Ceperley Park, the grassy area beside Second Beach and the outdoor pool.
- In recent years registration has opened at 8am with the run going from 10am to noon. Local organizers set these times, so confirm on the run page before heading out.
- No entry fee and no minimum pledge. Donations can be made on the day.
- Dogs on a short leash, strollers, wheelchairs, bikes, and rollerblades are welcome.
- Parking in Stanley Park is paid and the Second Beach lot is the closest, though it fills early on event mornings. Walking or cycling in from the West End avoids the problem entirely.
- September mornings on the water run cool before they warm up. Layers help.
A Lower Mainland story from the start
Terry Fox grew up in Port Coquitlam and played basketball and ran distance at school here before osteosarcoma took his right leg in 1977. He started the Marathon of Hope three years later. The run held in his name now reaches more than 60 countries, and over a billion dollars has been raised for cancer research through the Terry Fox Research Institute.
Around 20 runs take place across the region on the same Sunday. The hometown run in Port Coquitlam, marking its 46th year in 2026, starts at 10am at Hyde Creek Recreation Centre with registration from 8am. North Vancouver gathers at Inter River Park, 1301 Lillooet Road, with a 9am start. The full list sits on the Terry Fox Foundation site.
Parks, seawalls, and the community events that fill them are part of what makes a neighbourhood worth settling into. Geoff Jarman Personal Real Estate Corporation sells across Burnaby and Vancouver. Start with the Burnaby neighbourhood guides or a free home evaluation.
Run date confirmed from the Terry Fox Foundation. Start times at individual sites are set by local organizers and are subject to change.
