The Oaklands Townhomes

The Oaklands

The Oaklands is a quaint neighbourhood that borders the southwest corner of Deer Lake Park and is bounded by Royal Oak Ave and Oakland St. Developed in the 1990s on the grounds of the old Oakalla Prison Farm site the community was built respecting the hill/terraced landscape for the view and to maintain the natural beauty. Oaklands is a community of low rises and townhouses which is composed of about 600 homes with about 80% of the homes being townhomes. This is the most expensive townhome area in all of Burnaby with the larger townhomes selling over $1,200,000. Unique to the Oaklands is some of the townhomes are 2 levels at around 2400 square feet with the garage accessing the main floor and with the master bedroom being on the main floor which is perfect for anyone who does not like stairs! All overhead wiring is underground and this subdivision has Oak trees bordering the street, Oakmount Crescent. A small kiddy park is in the center of the Oaklands development and it has a nice view of the mountains.
